Daisies, Border and Lions Claim Victories in Round 3 of Women’s Premier Division

This past weekend Round 3 of the Women’s Premier Division took place in three different provinces around South Africa with DHL Western Province Women’s having a bye.

The Bulls Daisies traveled all the way to the windy Gqeberha where they faced EP Queens. The Bulls team wasn’t that strong but the ladies from Pretoria claimed a bonus point, securing a 34-10 victory over the Ladies in black and red from Gqeberha.

The result at Wolfson Stadium sees the unbeaten Daisies moving up to second place on the standings. While the team from Pretoria have the same number of log points as DHL WP, the Capetonians remain at the top of the table due to their huge points difference.

Still in the Eastern Cape, last year’s champions Border Ladies played at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane against the ladies from Durban. It wasn’t a lucky day for the Sharks Ladies as the defending champions beat them 31-03 in a bonus point victory. Border moved up to third place behind the Daisies on the log table, while the Sharks ended the weekend in sixth.

While in Johannesburg, the Mastercard Golden Lions Women beat Boland Dames 21-20 at Wits Stadium. Boland Dames led the match 12-7 at halftime, but the home team fought back to claim the victory. The Lions’ victory sees them move up to fifth place on the Women’s Premier Division log table.
