Krugersdorp’s Danielle van Wyk continues to proudly fly South Africa’s flag high across the globe, as she claimed bronze medal honours at the Karate 1 Series A in Konya, Turkey.

Van Wyk picked up the medal in the women’s Kumite -61kg category.

In 2019, the black belt holder became the only South African in nearly a decade to medal on the world stage in any World Karate Federation’s competitions when she placed third in the U/21 Kumite Female 68kg division.

Previously in 1994, South Africa brought home gold from the World Karate Championship and in 2001 another medal came our way.
