South Africa’s Danisha Patel and Zodwa Maphanga will face off against Japanese duo Hina Hayata and Mima Ito in the Women’s Doubles Round of 32 on Day 3 of the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals at the Durban ICC on Monday, 22 May 2023.
The match will take place from 15h00 CAT, as the host nation’s duo will be aiming to make their mark at the global showpiece.
On Sunday, 21 May, Patel featured in the Women’s Singles Round of 128 event where she fell short to Miyu Nagasaki in a 4-0 defeat.
In other fixtures, Zodwa Maphanga teamed up with Theo Cogill in the Mixed Doubles Round of 64 against Aidos Kenzhigulov and Zauresh Akasheva, where the latter secured a 3-0 victory.
While, in the Women’s Doubles Round of 64, Musfiquh Kalam and Lailaa Edwards took part in a tight encounter against Elizabeth Samara and Andrea Dragoman, where they eventually lost 3-0.
