Banyana Banyana head coach, Desiree Ellis, has bagged a sponsorship deal with Volkswagen Group SA, as announced on her Twitter account on Friday, 03 February 2023.
Ellis expressed her excitement, saying: “Truly the ‘People’s Car’ and ‘Moving People Forward’ and driving positive change- I am excited to be part of the Volkswagen SA, as they now have me driving in style”.

Looking forward to the year ahead, the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champion coach will enjoy the smooth ride as she continues to lead the national team to even greater heights.
Speaking to gsport, Ellis said: “Women’s sport is currently at the forefront and I’m extremely excited for this wonderful partnership with the Volkswagen family and I look forward to this long partnership, hopefully more women can come to the forefront and WAFCON has shown that winning medals has given a lot more opportunities to players out there, besides me by getting the sponsor, there’s been a lot of movement of players broad. So, it’s really exciting time for women’s football and hopefully we can see more of our sponsorship deals similar to this one, where they really celebrate women.”
Ellis continued to say that it’s important to celebrate each other’s achievements.
“I think it’s important that we celebrate each other and others achievements, so once again a big thank you to Volkswagen and my management team,” she concluded.
