Double Action Crowned Inaugural DTCB Top 8 Women’s Champions

Double Action continued with their dominance in the Botswana women’s league after they defeated Mexican Girls 4-1 to emerge as the winners of the inaugural DTCB Top 8 Women’s Champions on Sunday, 12 June 2022.

The DTCB Women’s Top 8 Championship was made up of clubs that finished first in their respective regions in the previous season. Teams were divided into two groups.

Gaborone regional champions Double Actions were in group A alongside Royal Fighters, Orapa All-Stars and Cubs Ditawana FC, while group B consisted of Francistown United, Mexican Ladies, Granada FC and Green Lovers.

Royal Fighters, Mexican Girls, Double Action and Francistown United FC top performed in the group stages to qualify for the semi-final.

It was goal gallop in the semi-finals match as Double Action thumped Francistown 15-0 to book a spot in the final against Mexican Girls, who had beaten Royal Fighters 9-0.

It was a high scoring final as Double Action defeated Mexican Girls 4-2 to claim the title.

In the third-place playoff match, Royal Fighters emerged as the bronze medal winners after defeating Francistown United 5-4 in a penalty shootout.
