Two-time junior world squash champion Nouran Gohar defeated USA’s Amanda Sobhy to emerge as winner of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions at the Grand Central Terminal in New York City on Saturday, 07 May 2022.

Nouran faced off against World No.4 Amanda for the second time after they came up against each other in the semi-final round of the Allam British Open in April.

The Egyptian produced some of the best squash of the tournament to win the final with a straight-game victory of 11-7, 11-7, 11-3 to earn her seventh title and first Tournament of Champions crown.

Gohar was shocked with the support she received from the Americans, saying: “I am excited to be crowned as the champion. I thought no one would clap for me because Amanda is the favourite, but everyone was unbelievable and fair.

“Thank you for coming and supporting us. I have wanted this title for so long and it feels good to finally have my name on a prestigious trophy like this,” she concluded.
