Para-sport star Elanza Jordaan scooped top honours at the World Boccia Africa Regional Championship which was held in Johannesburg recently, to book her spot at the World Boccia Championship set to take place in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil from 3-14 December 2022.
Jordaan who competed in the BC3 category at the Boccia event, was pitted against Egyptian Safaa Kenawy.
In her first game, Jordaan was unmatched winning 10-1. Kenawy came back hard and strong in the second match but Jordaan managed to hold her off for a 4-3 victory to earn qualification for the global showpiece later this year.
Another South African who represented the country was Seipati Majoe who won silver in the BC1 female category and missed out on a place to Rio.
The African Regional event was the first-ever Championship to take place on African soil from 16-22 May in Johannesburg. Twenty-four athletes from three African countries competed for top honours.
