The beauty of nature is alive as Spring heralds another opportunity to get outdoors through cycling.
Tomorrow, 1
September, families have a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors together at
Delvera Farm, situated 10km from Stellenbosch on the R44.
To celebrate Spring Day,
Dirtopia Trail Centre is launching a new bicycle "Pump Track" on the
premises.
What is a
pump track? A cross between a BMX, dual
and jump track for mountain bikes and BMXes.
A pump track can be used by all level riders: from the kids that just
want to play with their little bikes to the more advanced rider testing his
skills.
Stunt riders will jump the
doubles while novices can simply ride over the berms & bumps.
Alternatively,
you can ride the two marked mountain bike trails that take you to single-track
in the Klapmutskop Conservancy.
The 7km
route is easy for novices & children and the 15km Porcupine trail is more
advanced with technical singletrack sections and a further 3km black route
option to the top of the mountain.
Don’t have a
bike? Then follow the hiking trail signs to the Klapmutskop conservancy and
taste wine in the vineyard!
Delheim wines will be available for tasting at
tables in the vineyards, so stop at the Shiraz
table or simply walk around the dam to view all the different bird species on
the farm.
Beautiful
views of Table Mountain and the winelands are seen from
the trails and on top of Klapmutskop you will find the rare, indigenous
Renosterveld.
Your options
vary from 1km to 10km – these trails are well marked and you will also receive
a map when buying your permit at the Trail Centre – open from 08h00 to 17h00
every day.
Cost is R20
per person and R10 for kids under 10 and there are snacks & drinks for sale
at the Trail Centre. Hopefully we will see the sun & flowers on Spring day!
