South African women’s hockey captain, Erin Hunter, has every reason to smile after being signed as the first South African ambassador of global online platform, Scorrd Hockey.

Hunter has taken to social media to announce the new partnership deal with Scorrd Hockey, an online platform which aims to create a hockey community by connecting players, coaches and clubs across the globe.

In her Instagram update (@erin_hunter16), Hunter said,

“@scorrdhockey aims to help create and spread a global hockey community and that’s why I jumped on board as a South African Ambassador.

“In order to celebrate this exciting new partnership, @brabo_sa and I have decided to give away a stick to someone residing in South Africa.

“Stand a chance to receive an epic @brabo_sa hockey stick by: 1) Following @brabo_sa, @scorrdhockey and ME on Instagram, 2)Liking this post and tagging at least 2 friends, 3) Clicking on the link in my bio and becoming a part of the @scorrdhockey global community by creating an account for free.”

“I was contacted by a South African friend, currently living in Belgium and working for Scorrd, who asked me to become the South African Scorrd Ambassador.” – SA women’s hockey captain, Erin Hunter

Speaking to gsport, Hunter shares her excitement about her new deal.

“Scorrd Hockey is an online platform that’s aim is to create a global hockey community by connecting players, coaches and clubs from all over the world. South Africa hasn’t hit the Scorrd map yet and so I was contacted by a South African friend, currently living in Belgium and working for Scorrd, who asked me to become the South African Scorrd Ambassador.

“We’re hoping to get the South African hockey community involved so that our players/coaches can take advantage of the Scorrd community and in that way be exposed to the same opportunities as players/coaches in Europe,” Hunter pointed out.

The world of sport is facing uncertain times with the global COVID-19 pandemic, meaning that sponsorship deals are hard to come by, but Hunter encourages athletes to remain true to their brands and continue striving.

Try and get into a routine but also allow yourself to have bad days. It’s all about moving forward one day at a time. Do something today that makes you better than you were yesterday- it doesn’t always have to.” – Hunter speaks on keeping positive during COVID-19 times to keep your brand fresh to attract partnerships

“I think the best way to stay motivated during this crazy time, is to remember your goals and know that those goals still exist even during lockdown. Try and get into a routine but also allow yourself to have bad days. It’s all about moving forward one day at a time. Do something today that makes you better than you were yesterday- it doesn’t always have to.

“Be a PB run, it can be as simple as a 20-minute stretch session. As long as you keep moving in the right direction.”

She has also used this time during lockdown to reflect and plan for the future.

“I have been reflecting on how blessed I am to have an amazing family and support system around me. How blessed I am to be healthy and fit and to have been given the opportunities that I have been given in my life. I have food on my table, a roof over my head and fresh air in my lungs. I am truly blessed.

“I am still planning on going to the 2020 Olympic Games and am looking at the postponement as an opportunity for myself, and my team, to be more prepared,” she ended.
