Garden Route Badgers Stun Titans in T20 Challenge

Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers are fasting becoming a team to be reckoned with, as they completed the weekend double by beating the Fidelity Titans by 64-runs in the CSA Women’s Professional Domestic T20 Challenge on Sunday, 22 October at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

The #DaisyLadies won the toss and put the visitors in to bat. The Badgers did not take their foot off the pedal as they continued in the same momentum from the day before. Proteas player, Tasmin Britz played a blistering 82 (40) hitting twelves and three sixes before she was sent back to the dressing room. 

Badgers was nicely set up for a big score with Annerie Dercksen scoring a sensational unbeaten 74* (41) smashing thirteen fours and one maximum as the visitors posted a mammoth total of 182/4 in their innings. Eliz-Mari Marx was the pick of the Titans bowlers with 3/36.

Masabata Klaas put on a gallant fight with her unbeaten 62* (44) with five fours and three sixes, but it was not be for the #DaisyLadies as they amassed 118/8 in their allotted overs and were beaten by a massive 64-runs. 

Free State Host Lions in Mangaung

In the second game of the day, Recon Tactical Free State won the toss and opted to bat first against the DP World Lions Women at Manguang in Bloemfontein. Free State consistently put runs on the board. 

Evodia Yekile was unbeaten on 22* (24) with three fours and was supported by Elandri Janse van Rensburg 7* (13) as the home team put on defendable total of 103/5 in their innings. Refilwe Moncho took 2/20 that aided Lions Women to restrict Free State batting unit.`

Lions lost two early wickets in the run chase but that did not deter them from the game plan. Kirstie Thompson 23 (30) two fours and one maximum along with Karabo Meso 29(43) with four fours, steadied the team as they slowly but surely chased down the target. Madison Landsman unbeaten on 15* (12) two fours, guided the team along with an unbeaten 2* (2) from Sara Barber, as the Lions reached the target with 5 balls to spare. 

Dolphins vs Western Province T20 Rained Out

The final match of the day between the Hollywoobets Dolphins Women and Western Province Women was abandoned due to inclement weather. 

CSA Women’s Professional League continues next weekend.
