South Africa’s ultramarathon queen Gerda Steyn has taken a definitive step in her career, taking on the shorter distance at the Absa Run Your City Tshwane 10K race at the picturesque Jacaranda city on Sunday, 27 August 2023.

The past year has been nothing short of remarkable for Steyn, as she etched her name in the annals of running history. Her accomplishments include shattering her own Two Oceans Marathon record and securing an unprecedented fourth consecutive victory. 

Steyn’s extraordinary journey reached a crescendo with her awe-inspiring performance at the Comrades Marathon, obliterating a 24-year-old record by completing the race in a staggering 5 hours, 44 minutes, and 54 seconds.

“I’m excited to be in Tshwane for the first ever Absa Run Your City Tshwane 10K. It is a great honour for me to be invited,” revealed Steyn.

“I know the route will be tough and that suits me, so I will be hoping to be competitive on 27 August.”

Steyn is poised to tackle the 10km distance, showcasing her unwavering commitment to pursuing greatness.
