A bunch of beautiful South African women fighters are getting ready to do serious battle in Cape Town this weekend, as the country’s first ever all-womens Thaiboxing tournament brings some much-needed heat to the Mother City.

Organised by Fight Girls promoter Rayana Ameeroedien (SA Bantamweight champion, and the country’s first-ever female Thaiboxing promoter), the event is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 on Saturday 4 August, at @mospheer in Cape Town (Cnr Pollux and Castor Roads, Lansdowne)

Ameeroedien is excited about the upcoming event, saying: “The women are ready, and they are already getting a lot of media attention, mostly because they are pretty… but tough!

At a mere R50 per ticket, Fight Girls SA will show off the talented women demonstrating their fighting skills in the ring, while providing exposure for what is arguably the most exciting ring sport in the world.

“Preparations are going well, the girls are ready and we are looking forward to an exciting tournament,” fight organiser Rayana Ameeroedien. “The match-ups are very even and hard to predict at this stage.. so we’re in for some exciting fights!

The popularity of Thaiboxing has exploded in Cape Town over the last few years, evident in the growing number of spectators and fight fans attending these events.

The women fighters will be coming from all over the country to participate in this event, organised in celebration of National Womens’ Day.

“They know the significance of participating in this tournament and naturally want to win but win or lose it will be a great feeling to say that you’ve made history in that ring,” said Ameeroedien.
