The South African girls kept the rainbow flag flying during a tough day which saw six team members drop to the difficult Repercharge rounds, on the third day of competition in the 2007 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships at Mata Beach, Costa Da Caparica in Portugal.
Nikita Robb dominated her second round heat, posting one of the highest single wave scores to win with ease, while Tarryn Chudleigh and Chantelle Rautenbach both finishing second in their Round Two heats.
Tanika Hoffman, who surfed in the same heat as Robb, posted a good score on her first wave, but was unable to find a second scoring ride. She finished fourth, and will now contest the repercharge rounds.
Despite it being a tough Tuesday, team coach Howie Gold believes that all of the South Africans in the repercharge rounds have the potential to reach the repercharge finals and make it to the Grand final.
"It’s not over yet," said Gold, who is attending his fifth World Junior championships as coach of the SA Team.
