The gsport Awards has evolved from a small event for 20 women in 2006 to a fully-fledged red carpet event.
A significant part of that growth can be attributed to the contribution of branding specialists, Worldwide Sports (WWS), who joined the gsport family in 2012.
Founded in 1993, WWS has worked on major sporting events, including the the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking about being Branding Partner for the 10th gsport Awards, WWS Operations Director, Jack Davis, says: “WWS has found an event and a cause which really acknowledges the real stars in women’s sports throughout the year. It is important for WWS that the awards stay true to their roots, and their authenticity remain,” said Davis
“WWS has been involved for many years now, and has grown with the event, so this year, celebrating the 10th year of the awards is really special,” he added.
Davis says working with an initiative like gsport is inspiring and WWS enjoys contributing to the empowerment of South African women.
“Some of our most senior staff are women, as well as most of the influential decision makers within the firm,” he said.
Judging by what WWS laid out for the 2015 SPAR gsport Awards, it clear that WWS pride themselves in being the leaders the branding and signage game in South Africa.
“The gsport awards is always a great place to showcase new products and technologies. Our graphic design department also have the opportunity to showcase their talents, when it comes the various designs required for the event,” he added.
Davis says the partnership with gsport is inspiring because it highlights the achievements of women in sport. He says there are many great stories of fantastic achievements within women’s’ sport which are often left untold.
“WWS together with gsport are making a difference in the sports industry. Without highlighting these performances and without acknowledging these stars, we are missing out on half the story. Women’s sport is still growing in South Africa and WWS are very proud to be a part of that,” he concluded.
