Goals Galore in Super League Week Nine

by | Jun 22, 2021

There were goals galore in Week 9 of the ongoing and exciting Hollywoodbets Super League games over the past weekend.

University of Tshwane were the biggest winners of Week 9, thumping hapless Tsunami Queens 8-0 at TUT Stadium on Saturday, 19 June 2021, as the Tshwane ladies continue with their recent good form in the elite league competition.

Log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued with their great run, walloping home side Coal City Wizards 5-0 in Witbank in another one-sided affair.

The defending champions have been relentless in their pursuit to reclaim the title they won unbeaten in the inaugural season.

There was another glut of goals in Durban where hosts Durban Ladies who seem to have found their feet put visiting Ma-Indies to the sword with another 5-1 demolition at Chatsworth Stadium.

Thunderbirds Ladies walked away a happy team from the University of Johannesburg after securing a narrow 1-0 win. Philisa Mjambane received her second Player of the Match award in as many weeks. Mjambane was again instrumental to Thunderbirds’ hard-fought victory in which she displayed true leadership on and off the pitch.

JVW Girls FC’s shock recent poor run continued when they succumbed to their second loss of the season; going down 2 -1 to First Touch Academy away from home in Polokwane while Richmond United lost 1-0 to the University of the Western Cape.

Golden Ladies who hosted Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies in Mafikeng on Sunday, will feel disappointed after holding Celtic for most of the match but conceded three goals in 20 minutes to ultimately lose the match 4 -1. The home side will feel hard done because, for most of the game, they looked full value for at least a point.
