Golf For Women, a first of its kind in South Africa, will be available at Pro Shops, CNA’s and golf courses countrywide from 28 March 2007 (R24.95).
A bi-annual magazine dedicated to South African women golfers, Golf For Women covers a broad range of topics which speaks directly to women golfers about everything they need to improve their game, on and off the course.
Edited by Golf Digest’s United States Golf For Women editor in chief, Susan K. Reed, the magazine cover all aspects of the sport from practical instruction by Golf Digest’s only female playing editor, Annika Sorenstam, to beauty tips, fashion, and specific equipment available for women.
Other exciting topics include an in-depth interview with SA Major champion Sally Little, as well as investigating the spiritual side of golf with mind/body guru Deepak Chopra.
Golf Digest Editor Stuart McLean comments: “Golf For Women is the very first golfing magazine for women to be published in South Africa. We believe this is a growing market and it’s important to provide instruction and stories specifically for women golfers.
“We are doing what we did with Golf Digest, by using material from the most successful women’s golfing magazine in the world today, Golf For Women in the US. More young women are playing golf, and we feel it’s a totally separate game from the men’s game, and there should be a separate publication for these women golfers,” said McLean.
Women’s golf is on the rise with celebrities such as Cindy Crawford, Jodie Kidd, Sharon Stone, Catherine Zeta-Jones and South Africa’s Cindy Nel recently taking up the sport.
Recently Michelle Wie was ranked number six in the Golf Digest Top 50 rankings with earnings of $20 235 224 in 2006 beating Ernie Els who ranked number 7. Could you be the next Big Wiesy?
