Ethiopia’s Gotytom Gebreslase is now the second woman from her country after Gete Wami to win the Abbott World Marathon Majors series title.
Gebreslase was crowned champion after accumulating a total of 34 points from the qualifying races, which include the Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon, London Marathon, Berlin Marathon, Chicago Marathon, New York City Marathon, Olympic or Paralympic Marathons and the World Athletics Championships or World Para Athletics Championships.
The Ethiopian finished third in Tokyo, first at Worlds and third in New York to gain her points to victory.
