South Africa’s rising tennis star Heike Janse van Vuuren progressed to the quarter-finals of the prestigious International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Grade A Samaai Junior tournament on Wednesday, 10 August 2022.

The 17-year-old, who is the reigning U18 Africa Junior Championship winner, pulled off an opening round victory over Kazakhstan’s Zhanel Rustemova 6-4, 6-3 on Monday, 8 August.

She then went on to defeat Yichen Zhao of China in straight sets 6-2,6-2 on Wednesday to advance to the quarter-finals.

Janse van Vuuren will face J1 Durban Champion Ella McDonald of Britain in the quarter-final.
