Sixth-seeded Elizabeth Kapari (Ghana) won through to the final to face Lesedi Jacobs on Friday, after beating qualifier Lee Barnard (SA) 6-4 6-4 in the girls singles at the Wanderers ITF International Junior Tennis Championships in Johannesburg.

Elizabeth Kapari of Ghana seeded 6 on her way to beating South African qualifier Lee Barnard 6-4 6-4 in the girls semi-finals to reach the Friday’s finals of the Wanderers ITF tournament being played at the Wanderers Tennis Club in Johannesburg on Thursday, 19 July, 2012. Photo: Howard Espley-JonesGhanaian Kapari despatched tournament top-seed South African Janet Koch 6-3 6-4 at the quarterfinal round, and she had to make sure of a solid effort to beat 13-year old Barnard, the youngest player in the tournament.

Reaching the semi-finals after qualifying is a clear indication that Barnard has the potential for future greatness.

Kapari will meet the second-seed Jacobs in the final, who overcame a second-set scare to beat Carita Moolman (RSA) 6-1 7-5. Jacobs has conceded a single set in the opening round to Marnelle Boshoff, and she enjoyed a fairly comfortable 6-0 6-1 win over Jeandri van Rensburg in the second round.

The finals will be played at 09h30 at the Wanderers Tennis Club in Illovo.
