Banyana Banyana forward Jermaine Seoposenwe made her debut for C.F. Monterrey Femeni against her former team, FC Juarez on Monday, 21 August 2023.
The 29-year-old came on the field in the 69th minute as a substitute for Las Rayadas de Monterrey. The match ended in a 2-2 draw with the results seeing Las Rayadas in fifth position on the log with 14 points from seven matches in the Liga MX Femenil.
Seoposenwe signed a two year deal with the club in June before heading to the FIFA Women’s World Cup with Banyana Banyana.
“I don’t see it just as a challenge, but as an opportunity to be part of one of the best teams in the League. It is an opportunity to be a champion and that is why Rayadas bought me.”
“I am here to give my best for the team and I hope that my skills can support the team”, said Seoposenwe in a club statement.
“In Rayadas, I want to win all possible titles. It’s good to be part of a team with great players, it’s a challenge and that’s why I came here, to grow as a player. Being in Rayadas is a great opportunity to grow, be better and have the opportunity to win the League. It is a great team, a united group, we have the talent and the experience to achieve it,” she added.
Sports Director, Héctor Lara, shared views on Seoposenwe’s inclusion in the team, saying: “It is a very important day because we can formally introduce Jermaine. It is a pleasure to have her after her participation in the Women’s World Cup held in New Zealand and Australia, where she achieved important results with her team.”
Technical Director, Eva Espejo, added: “It is important that she is here, welcome home, to your Club. We want the face of Rayadas to change, she contributes her experience and what she has shown in the teams she has been in.”
“She meets a profile of having played in Europe and having important international settings to continue growing and confirming our commitment to the Fans to fight for the championship every season.
“What we saw of her in the World Cup is that she is one of the players who had the most participation in goal danger plays. Her professionalism, discipline and effort are very important to Rayadas,” Espejo concluded.
