Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung has been elected as the first Deputy Chairperson of the newly established African Clubs Association.
This appointment came about last week at the launch in Cairo, Egypt, and the South African Sports Administration powerhouse is set to hold this seat for the next two years, starting from 30 November 2023.
Motaung has been exceptional in building one of the biggest football brands on the continent, and has set herself up as a leading voice in African football.
Her new venture comes hot on the heels of another groundbreaking appointment last year, where she was announced as part of the Confederation of African Football’s Organising Committee on Women’s Football, a position she continues to hold.
Speaking after her appointment with an African football journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Motaung highlighted the significance of this appointment.
“Well a very significant moment, not just for Kaizer Chiefs but for African football, I’m proud to be here and serve African football in any way I can,” Motaung said in conversation with the Nigerian journalist.
“I think my strength is my commercialisation of the game, that’s important, looking at where African clubs are and the opportunity to get corporates and financing in the game, I will work closely with the board and President to do it.”
The ACA is the brainchild of incumbent CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, and its mission is to foster cooperation, innovation, and excellence across the African football landscape through collective effort and shared vision.
