Jo-Ane van Dyk Strikes Day 1 Gold at USSA Athletics Champs

The first USSA Athletics Championships kicked off in Bloemfontein on Thursday, 4 May 2023, where Jo-Ane van Dyk made her mark claiming gold in Javelin. 

This competition will showcase top University students from all over South Africa competing over the next two days, in pursuit of being crowned title winners in their respective disciplines.

These students will also get the opportunity to represent South Africa at the World University Games later this year.

In the women’s senior javelin event it was Jo-Ane van Dyk who walked away with bragging rights as the North West University athlete threw a distance of 57.41m to grab first place.

Van Dyk was followed by Maties athlete Jana van Schalkwyk who threw a distance of 53.80m to earn second place, while Tuks athlete Chane van Zyl ended in third-place with a distance of 47.73m.
