Hosts Meisieskool Oranje remain unbeaten after rounds one and two of the ABSA/ Resolution Health Tennis Challenge, and also winning their first two rounds on Friday was Eikestad Laerskool, with one win each for Outeniqua and Gene Louw.
The five-round tournament is hosted by Meisieskool Oranje in Bloemfontein, and is the junior school girl’s tennis run-in tournament to the annual Amanda Coetzer high school girl’s tennis tournament the following weekend, also at Meisieskool Oranje.
Incidentally, Amanda’s sister, Isabel Fichardt, is coach of Meisieskool Oranje, and she is delighted with her team’s performance so far.
She told gsport: “I was very happy. We’ve got three unfinished matches, so we’ll see after that what the end result will be.
Isabel says she’s also be impressed with the standard of play from the young girls. “I found it very hard, especially with depth; much higher than any other year.
"The two girls two watch out for would be Clarissa Moody from Claredon and Christelle Allen from Oranje.”
The tournament, now in its sixth year, is well supported by ABSA and Resolution Health.
