JVW FC has bolstered their squad with the acquisition of Swedish defender Julia Molin. The experienced defender has played in her native Sweden, Scotland, and has also played professionally in Cyprus, Italy, and Norway.

Most recently, Molin was playing in Scotland for Glasgow City, having arrived there in 2020 from the Norwegian side Avaldsnes. The Blue Diamonds’ recruitment drive continues, with club founder and Banyana Banyana veteran Janine van Wyk returning, complemented by the comeback of Aliyaah Allie.

The full-back will be key as JVW look to climb up the table; they currently sit third, having won 13 of their 21 games. Molin’s presence at the back will be of great benefit thanks to her defence skills and tenacity in stopping the opposition.

This key signing highlights the growth of the South African Women’s League. Since its establishment in 2019, the league is becoming a notable destination for international talent. In their most recent game, JVW FC defeated the University of Pretoria with a score of 3-2.
