In a thrilling series of matches on Saturday, the University of the Western Cape, currently leading the Hollywoodbets Super League standings, extended their impressive winning streak with a 2-0 victory over First Touch Ladies in Polokwane.
At the same venue, Ma-indies Ladies faced a narrow 0-1 defeat against UJ FC. Copperbelt Ladies showcased their strength, securing a 2-0 win against Coal City Wizards, while JVW FC clinched a hard-fought 3-2 victory against the University of Pretoria at the Wits Stadium.
Adding to the excitement, Richmond United Ladies and Thunderbirds FC squared off in a high-scoring draw, concluding at 4-4.
However, the momentum was disrupted on Sunday, September 10, 2023, when safety concerns led to the postponement of matches at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban.
The league issued an official statement, saying, “Live matches scheduled for Sunday in Durban were called off due to safety concerns at the stadium. New dates will be communicated soon.”
The games were set to feature Royal AM hosting City Lads and Durban Ladies welcoming TS Galaxy.
