Nadine de Klerk was the standout player as South Africa romped to an unassailable 2-0 lead away against Pakistan by winning the second ODI at the National Stadium in Karachi on Monday, 11 September, 2023.

The rising all-rounder delivered a career-best performance of 4/32 in eight overs, and aided by Masabata Klaas’ miserly three wickets in wrapping up the Pakistan innings, the South Africans bowled the tournament hosts out for 169, after their decision to bat first.

Pakistan commenced slowly, failing to maintain momentum throughout their innings, while South Africa consistently claimed wickets, with Ayabonga Khaka and Nonkululeko Mlaba claiming the remaining three wickets..

In the visitor’s reply, opener Tazmin Brits scored a brisk 45 from 54 balls, while Lara Goodall hit five 4’s for 36 from 53 balls, enabling South Africa to chase the modest total of 169 with ease.

De Klerk’s unbeaten contribution of 24 from 30 balls, featuring four boundaries, was instrumental in a 54-run partnership with Marizanne Kapp, ensuring South Africa’s win with only four wickets down.

South Africa will face Pakistan in the third and final match of the series at the National Stadium in Karachi, on Thursday, 14 September.
