Proteas Women all-rounder Nadine de Klerk says the team need to put more runs on the scoreboard in their final T20I series match against Pakistan at The National Stadium in Karachi on Monday, 4 September 2023.

On Sunday evening, the South Africans lost the second T20I match by 7 wickets. The loss ensured that the hosts sealed a series win with a match to play.

Sidra Ameen stood tall with the bat, smashing a third career fifty, to help guide Pakistan to victory.

The opening batter dispatched six fours and a six on her way to a 44-ball 61 as the hosts successfully chased down South Africa’s first innings total of 150/3, which featured leading contributions from openers Tazmin Brits (46) and Laura Wolvaardt (41).

“Obviously a very disappointing series this far. I think we expected a lot better of us but it is how the game of cricket goes at the end of the day – you going to win some and there’s also going to be some tough times,” de Klerk revealed to CSA media after the encounter.

“As a side, we have had a couple of tough games but I guess it’s all about how you come back. We still have another game, we can still put up a fight and hopefully we can do that.”

Speaking on key factors the team needs to improve on, de Klerk says: “Look, I’ve mentioned to a few of my teammates that 150 isn’t enough on these wickets. I think it is a bit harder playing against their spinners who are a little bit slower, our spinners are generally quicker and we have a lot of pace bowlers in our side. I definitely think heading into the next game, we would look to up that a little and try get to that 160.”

The final T20I match will take place this afternoon at 16h30 SA time.
