Competing in the girls U18 singles final, Kaitlyn Ramduth (KwaZulu-Natal) defeated Luise Janse van Rensburg (Free State) 6-4, 6-2, to claim her long awaited Trio Juniors Masters title in Cape Town at the Welgemoed Tennis Club and Edgemead Tennis Club, on Sunday 15 October, 2023.
The Trio TSA Junior Masters Championship showcases the best of South Africa’s rising talent, featuring the top eight girls in four age categories, and serves as platform for young athletes to demonstrate their skills while competing for top honours.
“I am currently ranked SA number 1, and will be representing the country at the BRICS games in Durban. I am extremely happy to play for my country but more especially because the tournament is in Durban and it is home for me.”

Speaking to gsport, Ramduth expressed that this was has been the one tournament that she has wanted to win more than Nationals and she is chuffed with her performance.
“My toughest opponent was in my first round against Sophia Fuller. I found myself 5-3 (30-0) down in the first set, and I had to fight my way back and win. For me this was the toughest match of the tournament because she kept coming at me, and she never gave up.”
“Coming into this tournament, my confidence was on a high. I had a lot of practice sessions to build my confidence, and it helped me when I needed it most during the tournament.”
12-year-old Megan van Vuuren won the Girls U12 Title, after recently returning home from a silver-medal finish for Team South Africa at the ITF/CAT African Junior Teams Competition in Morocco.
Van Vuuren was full have excitement as she spoke about her win in Cape Town:
“I am very happy with the win. The match was not easy with the wind, but fortunately I managed to pull through and win.

“My first set was easy, but I made a lot of errors in the second set and I was overthinking it. The third set was just as tough and I had to gather myself and fight hard for the win,” continued Van Vuuren.
“I was really happy that the Junior Masters was here in Cape Town, and I won my title at home, so this is very special for me.”
