International lawn bowler, Karen Murphy has been inducted into the Bowls Australia Hall of Fame.
With an incredible catalogue to a sport that’s not very familiar to most, Murphy has won multiple accolades and smashed barriers over the years representing Australia.
After successfully defending her title at the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch, her accomplishments have elevated her to being the best female bowler since Margaret Johnson.
She has 14 gold medals in total across all competitions, having competed in World Outdoor Championships, Commonwealth Games, World Indoor Bowls Championships and the Asia Pacific Bowls Championships.
Murphy was a Director for World Bowls from 2014-2018 and has had the opportunity of being a guest commentator during the World Indoor Bowls Championships.
Murphy was among the first inducted into Bowls Australia’s Hall of Fame, in the inaugural ceremony in 2011, and has in recent years provided guidance and mentoring to the next generation of players as the sport’s National Assistant Coach.
