2022 SWD Umpire of the Season, Kerrin Klaaste has been appointed to the international panel of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Development Umpires, as Cricket South Africa announced on Friday, 14 October 2022.
Klaaste is the second female South African on the panel and in less than a year, she is starting to make a name for herself on the global scene joining 59 umpires from across the globe, including fellow countrywoman, Lauren Agenbag.
The Kimberly-born was the first woman to officiate in a league final at the Six Gun Grill SWD T20 tournament.
This comes shortly after she recently stood on the Varsity Cricket 2022 tournament in Pretoria, officiating five matches, including the final.
In the official media release, CSA Director of Cricket, Enoch Nkwe, congratulated Klaaste on her recent achievement.
“Congratulations go out to umpire Kerrin Klaaste on a well-deserved appointment. Klaaste has been in the CSA pipeline for a long period of time and seeing her advancing to greater heights through the ranks assures us that our Talent Identification Programme (TAP) is on the right path.”
