Banyana Banyana star, Thembi Kgatlana, is currently behind closed doors in Lisbon, Portugal and has taken time out to urge South Africans to take care of their personal hygiene as the world faces the CoronaVirus pandemic.
The Sport Lisbon Benfica forward has been in quarantine for a week as the club has taken strict measures to ensure the safety of their players.
“I find myself stuck in Portugal. It’s been one week now where I have been at home, being indoors, trying to be safe and away from the public,” Kgatlana said in a video sent to the gsport Team.
“The club, Sport Lisbon Benfica, has taken measures for us to stay at home. They have given us a programme to keep training and be fit.
“We also get food delivered to us so that we don’t go out and get the virus.”

Kgatlana is finding this adjustment hard, but the 23-year-old hopes that people see the importance of remaining behind closed doors.
“It’s been strange to be in the house all the time, but I think the hardest is being away from the field, playing football, running around, that has been the most difficult thing.
“But I understand how serious this pandemic is and I hope that everyone at home are taking the right measurements to be safe, to constantly wash their hands, to use sanitizers and to avoid touching your face.
“At first it was weird for me also to not touch my face but then I got to understand that it’s one way that the virus could infect you.
“So, I hope everyone at home is taking this seriously and continue taking care of yourselves.”
Football leagues around the world are currently suspended until further notice and in the meantime, Kgatlana is keeping herself busy training indoors as she shared on her Instagram account.

She had started to find her feet in Portugal after signing for Benfica in January 2020 and went on to score a spectacular goal to see the team through to the final of the League Cup in February.
