KZN Coastal Earn Double Victory on Day 1 of CSA U19 Tournament

KZN Coastal Girls U19 brought the heat with a double victory on Day 1 of the CSA U19 Girls National Schools Tournament that is being held in Paarl on Thursday, 16 December 2021.

With Namibia having pulled out of the tournament fixtures had to be rearranged, which saw the Coastal team playing two T20 matches. 

In their first match against Eastern Province, Coastal posted a total of 68/6 in their 20 overs. EP fought hard but ended up scoring 62/6, thus handing KZN their first win by 6 runs. 

KZN Coastal went on to face Northerns in their final encounter for the day. Northerns were put in to bat and were bowled out for 66 in 15.1 overs with Seshnie Naidu and Nonjabulo Shoba taking 2 wickets each. KZN scored 67/3 in 14.1 overs, winning their second match of the day by 7 wickets. 

The 50-Over Game

The rest of the teams played 50-over matches: Limpopo won their first game against Northern Cape by 45 runs after having posted a total of 77 and bowling out NC for just 32 in 26.2 overs. 

Gauteng beat Boland by 121 runs, the second highest marginal win for the day. Gauteng posted a total of 186/10 in 35 overs, with Refilwe Moncho top scoring with 35(37). They bowled out Boland for 65 in 25.5 overs. Gizelle Abrahams top-scored for Boland 34*.

KZN Inland beat Kei by 19 runs in their encounter. Inland posted 84/10 in 20.2 overs and bowled out Kei for 65 runs.

North West beat SWD by a whopping 177 runs in their encounter. NW batted first and posted a total of 191/10 in 34.1 overs. Elandri Janse van Rensburg 48(56) cracking 8×4’s in her innings and Anje Cloete 48(71) 6×4’s. SWD were bowled out for 14 in 10 overs, with Katlego Sethlodi taking 6-4 and Elandri Janse van Rensburg 3-10.

Border beat Free State by 92 runs in their match after having posted 131/10 in 46.5 overs. Free state was bowled out 39 in 16.2 overs. 

Western Province also won their match against Mpumalanga by 31 runs. 

Day two action is currently underway, with all matches live on Pitch Vision.
