South African tennis star Leigh van Zyl has been signed by Clemson University in South Carolina for the 2023 season, as announced on 2 November 2022.
The top ranked SA U-18 junior player will join Clemson in January 2023, after reaching a career high ITF World junior of #125.

The scholarship will cater for both her tennis career and her studies.
The tennis sensation has captured five ITF Junior singles titles and eight ITF Junior doubles titles over the last two years.
Leigh van Zyl (UTR 9.61) has verbally committed to @ClemsonWTennis and will join the Tigers for the spring of 2023. Head Coach Christy Lynch stated: “We are looking forward to having Leigh join the program this January.
“In my first initial conversations with Leigh, it was evident that she has a real love for the game. She is high character person, a great student, and has a strong drive to excel both on and off the court which makes her a great fit for our program.”
