Former New Zealand cricketer and hockey player, Lesley Murdoch has been elected as the new President of New Zealand Cricket on Wednesday, 8 November 2022.

The announcement was made at the organization’s 128th Annual General Meeting.
Murdoch is the second woman to be appointed in this position after the departing president, Debbie Hockley.
The sports broadcaster, Murdoch, captained the New Zealand women’s team in both the long and short format of the game and played in 6 Tests and 25 ODI’s.
The 66-year old also played hockey, representing her country at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
She has been holding the position of New Zealand Cricket’s vice-president since 2021, before being elected for her newest role and she is also a trustee of the New Zealand Community Trust.
