Momentum Proteas seasoned international, Lizelle Lee, has made the shortlist in the ODI Player of the Year and Cricketer of the Year categories for the annual ICC Awards.
Lee is up against England’s Tammy Beaumont, West Indies’ Hayley Matthews and Fatima Sana from Pakistan for the coveted award.
The 29-year-old opener scored 632 runs in 11 matches at an average of 90.28 with one century and five half-centuries to earn a spot for recognition at the awards ceremony.
In 2021, the South African finished as the highest run-scorer in the 50-over format.
In the Proteas’ 4-1 series victory over India, Lee played a vital role racking up 288 runs to end the series as the highest run-scorer and earn the Player of the Series award.
Against West Indies in the Caribbean, she topped the charts once again as the run-getter in the series.
