Louise Lepront claimed the Premier U16 division title at the Rip Curl GromSearch Scottburgh, which took place in KwaZulu-Natal.
Lepront’s skills and vast experience helped her navigate the deteriorating onshore conditions, setting the highest heat total of 13.88, to win the final ahead of Anastasia Venter.
Looking at the U14 girls, local surfer Leah Lepront flew the family flag high, winning her group ahead of Jasmine Venter.
In the closely contested U18 division, Anastasia Venter was the most impressive surfer, with the top three surfers separated by only half a point. Chloe Ribbink came in second place, while Maya Potgieter was right behind in third.
The Rip Curl GromSearch is a five-event series that features the top junior surfers in the country. Scottburgh is the third stop, with the next event scheduled to take place in Port Alfred from the 29-30 July.
The tournament will be presented by the Royal St Andrews Hotel.
