The 2023 Women’s Cycle Tour has been postponed for one year due to challenges finding a new vehicle partner, a combination of running costs and a reduced level of commercial funding.
According to a statement released by www.womenstour.co.uk there were challenges finding a vehicle partner that could replace ŠKODA to help create a safe racing environment for the riders, as well as the spectators. It was also stated that there was an increase in the running costs, approximately 20% higher in comparison to the 2022 race and less commercial support.
The decision came following a three week renewed appeal for funding, which included a crowdfunding scheme that was supported by over 500 race fans.

The Women’s Tour thanked everyone for the support and involvement to take place this year.
Since the Women’s Tour started in 2014, the race has led the way in the fight towards gender equality in sport, be it from raising rider welfare standards and prize money to providing guaranteed TV, online and media coverage.
The Women’s Tour has a prestigious list of former winners, including the likes of Marianne Vos (2014), Elisa Longo Borghini (2022), and home favourite Lizzie Deigan, the only two-time winner of the race to date (2016 and 2019).
In addition to generating over £55m for the UK economy, the event has featured an inspirational partnership with Breast Cancer Now. The organisers are already working on plans for next year’s edition, which will mark the 10th anniversary of the race.
The events Grand Départ will be hosted by Wales for the first time as part of a long-term agreement already in place with the Welsh Government.
