2019 will be remembered as a year women’s sport stepped out of its comfort zone and truly owned its success.
This was inspired by the coming together of gsport and leading SA insurance company Momentum to recognize outstanding talent at the 2019 Momentum gsport Awards.
For a long time, women’s sport has searched for a champion and this year, Nontokozo Madonsela, the Chief Marketing Officer of Momentum Metropolitan Holdings, stepped up and encouraged us to make no apology for our success.
Her keynote address at the 2019 Momentum gsport Awards inspired the gathering to own their success.
Madonsela took to the stage at the glitzy affair and said that she was in awe of the success of women in the sporting arena and was elated to have joined forces in ensuring that the future is women’s sport.
“For far too long South African women’s outstanding contribution to sport as participants and facilitators has not been given the recognition it deserves. Thanks to initiatives like gsport this is now being challenged head-on and step-by-step.
“For us as Momentum, when the opportunity arose to partner with Kass and her team we did not hesitate to grab it because we saw an authentic alignment that brings to life the spirit of our #NoApologyForMySuccess campaign, which we ran through Women’s Month.”
Madonsela pointed out the importance of having brands partner for a greater cause.
“The journey to success requires one to have partners because there is power one can unleash exponentially when such partnerships work. Like the two brands – gsport and Momentum, who have come together not only to boldly and confidently celebrate the successes of our women in sport, but more importantly to accelerate and ignite a sense of pride in their success, so that they lead by example and continue to inspire women around them.
“This is a start of a strong relationship and it makes complete sense for the Momentum business as our DNA is rooted in partnerships and advice. We’ve seen how these two ingredients help to ensure sustainable financial success.”
The elegant Ms Madonsela spoke about closing the gap that still prevails when it comes to women’s sport in the country and how Momentum together with gsport will commit to ensuring that women are given the platform to shine.
