Mangaung have virtually secured a semi-final place after coming from behind to beat Nelson Mandela Bay 30-27 on the third day of the Spar National Netball Championships at the NWU-Eagles campus on Wednesday, 10 August 2022.
Mangaung Coach Martha Mosoahle said she was very relieved to have won and kept the hopes of a semi-final place alive: “We lost against Tshwane in the morning, so I knew we had to win this match to have a chance of reaching the semis,” she said.
Tshwane and Johannesburg both are assured of a semi-final place, as Tshwane remain unbeaten and Johannesburg remain in second spot after beating Cape Winelands 38-31 in their only match of the day.
Mangaung, Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Nelson Mandela Bay are all on four points each. Thursday’s matches will determine who the other two semi-finalists will be.
