Sekondêre Meisieskool Oranje walked away with bragging rights after winning the Fairtree Super 12 Hockey tournament in Bloemfontein as the tournament was held from 5-7 August 2022.
This tournament is the country’s top school girl’s hockey event which saw 12 of South Africa’s best hockey teams play off against one another for the winner’s title.
Oranje, who are the powerhouse of South African girls school hockey and currently ranked number 1 in the country, proved their worth as they earned the crown.
They defeated Eunice 3-1 in the final. Eunice, who made history in May 2022 beating Oranje 2-0 in a City League clash after 10 years, weren’t strong enough on the day to beat the number one ranked team.
Since 2014, Oranje have dominated this tournament winning the coveted title each year, with the exception of 2018.
However ,the tournament did not take place in 2020 and 2021 due the Covid-19 pandemic.
