2020 gsport Annual List recipient and Olympian, Michaela Whitebooi, earned a runners-up medal at the Dubrovnik Senior European Cup in Croatia on Saturday, 23 April 2022.
Whitebooi is currently partaking in international events as she aims to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.
Sharing on her Instagram page after her performance, Whitebooi said: “Today (Saturday) I got the opportunity to represent South African Judo at the Dubrovnik Senior European Cup 2022. It is always a blessing to step on the mat for my country.
“I received a silver medal,” she added.
“Losing a final match is never easy; it is not a great feeling at all. However, there is a saying that losing is part of the game. If you never lose, you are never truly tested, and never forced to grow.
“Small steps to the ultimate goal = Paris Olympic Games 2024,” she concluded.
