South African surfski ace Michelle Burn continued her good form when she won her second race in a row, the Techtisa Race, at the Siyaphambili Open Ocean Challenge on Sunday, 17 July 2022.
Burn followed up her win last weekend with another win this Sunday and a third overall finish.
The race was an out and back for paddlers and for Burn it was a blessing as she powered home to a top three finish on the overall scoreboard.
“I was really glad that it was an out and back and not a triangle to be honest,” Burn said after the race.
“The East (wind) picked up halfway through the race and so we got some good runs coming back in which I really enjoyed.
“The conditions were more my type of conditions with some tactics involved with not too much wave riding going out into the wind. Then coming back it was a nice big push and it was also nice to be racing the guys today.
“It’s good practice for me and I had a lot of fun out there.”
Burn cruised home to the win in the women’s race, while it was Monique Boshoff who finished second with Deidre Bentley coming home in third.
Next week’s second Techtisa Race will be the first of the two doubles races.
