Namibia successfully defended a modest total to register their first-ever win against Zimbabwe in the opening match of the Capricorn Eagles Women’s Tri-Series at CCD Field in Windhoek, Namibia on Wednesday, 20 April 2022.
Captained by Mary-Anne Musonda, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat.
Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano top scored with a feisty 80 runs to set Zimbabwe’s total of 130.
Chasing the total, Jurriene Arrasta Diergaardt and Yasmeen Khan kept their nerves at bay as they built up a partnership for Namibia.
However, Zimbabwe’s debutant, Michelle Mavunga, broke the partnership in the 14th over getting the wicket of Khan.
Diergaardt’s unbeaten 62 drove the Capricorn Eagles to a 7-wicket victory.
The tournament continues on Thursday with Namibia taking on Uganda in the morning before they lock horns with Zimbabwe later in the afternoon.
