Netherlands Test to Start Hockey Summer Series

The SA women’s hockey team is set for a bumper two weeks of top-class action, playing 11 Tests against top nations Netherlands, Australia and Belgium, all in the space of 16 days, according to information provided on 2014 Hartleyvale Summer Series fliers.

Establishing its reputation as the summer hockey mecca of South Africa, the picturesque Hartleyvale stadium will see the return of top-quality hockey action, and reasonable ticket prices are sure to lure in the keen spectators that supported the home team last year.

There is no official confirmation of the series or team selected on the SA Hockey Association’s website, but fixtures announced kick off on Saturday with the first of two tests against world champs the Netherlands, followed by three tests against world number-4 Australia, and concluding with a series of six tests against Belgium, ranked 12th in the world according to the FIH website.
