Nielsen Sports South Africa and gsport Partner in Strategic Move for Women’s Sport in Africa

by | Jun 8, 2021

gsport is proud to announce Nielsen Sports South Africa as the Official Market Research & Insights provider to the Momentum gsport Awards, and proud partner of the Sponsor of the Year award category.

In the two-year deal, Nielsen Sports South Africa will share insights relevant to women’s sport in Africa that gsport readers and followers can look forward to across their platforms. gsport will also have access to Nielsen Sports South Africa’s ongoing local and global data, research and analysis into women’s sport that will assist in telling even more compelling sport stories.

“This is a turning point for women’s sport in Africa”, says Kass Naidoo, founder of gsport. “To finally have access to data and insights into women’s sport that we can share and use to further commercialise women’s sport is a game changer for athletes and professional bodies alike.”

“I couldn’t be prouder of the progress we’ve made in the last three months with Flash Sponsorship, and the inroads we are making across the industry with the compelling proposition that is women’s sport. It is in the spotlight and on the rise, so sign up for our weekly newsletter to make sure you don’t miss a beat.”

Amy Daley, Client Service Director for Nielsen Sports South Africa said, “This partnership is the perfect opportunity for Nielsen Sports South Africa to showcase the invaluable data and insights we can provide into this growing segment.

“Collaborating with gsport to tell the stories that data can provide, is the perfect platform to elevate women’s sport and showcase their value,” said Daley. “We couldn’t be prouder to play such an important role for our athletes.”

In April this year, gsport partnered with Henley Africa, and through a series of stakeholder sessions with some of the industry’s finest, worked together to pave the way for the professionalisation of women’s sport. Out of these sessions, a stairway to success was developed, and access to research was identified as a key pillar and priority for the growth of women’s sport.

gsport will celebrate the 16th edition of the Momentum gsport Awards on 31 August 2021, where over 20 winners will be recognised and awarded for their achievements over the last year.
