South African Under 18 Champion Nikita Robb (East London) won the Girl’s titles at the 2007 Mr Price Pro Junior in Durban on Saturday, after competing in 2-3 foot surf at Durban’s New Pier in one part of the Durban Beach Festival.
2006 Mr Price Pro Junior runner-up Nikita Robb beat South African U20 Champion Chantelle Rautenbach (Melkbosstrand) into second place, to win the Girl’s Final, with Kirsty Delport (Durban) ending third and Alice McGregor (East London) finishing fourth.
“I’m really stoked with my win today. It’s given me a lot of confidence going into the main event,” said Robb.
“The conditions were tricky, but I knew there were some wider waves coming through on the high tide. I managed to maximize my scoring potential on my second last wave, which saw me through for the win.”
As winner Robb earned R4000, 1000 Surfing South Africa PST ratings points, and a wildcard slot into the Women’s round of 48 in the Mr Price Pro.
Because she is seeded into this round already, Robb chose to give her wildcard to third-place finisher Kirsty Delport, who was a standout throughout the event.
The Mr Price Pro Junior was a 3A-rated PST event, sanctioned by Surfing South Africa.
