South Africa lost an opportunity to level the T20 International Series against Bangladesh when persistent rain drew the tie to an early and unfortunate ‘no result’, in Kimberley in the Northern Cape, on Wednesday, 6 December, 2023.
Before inclement weather intervened, South Africa had won the toss and elected to field first, again offering the visitors the day’s early conditions.
Nonkululeko Mlaba struck immediately for the Proteas Women, dismissing Shamim Sultana caught Sinalo Jafta for three in the first over, before the match was called off with the arrival of rain.
The visitors continue to lead the three-match 1-0, after their spirited 13-run win in Benoni on Sunday, when they took 149/2 off the South African’s bowlers before restricting the home team to 136/8 for a deserved 13-run win at Willowmoore Park.
Bangladesh Women led the 3-match series 1-0 ahead of Friday’s final encounter, also at the Kimberley Oval, where the home fans will be expecting the national team to win and draw the series against a competitive threat.
