Ocean Splash Heads to Mossel Bay

Swimming South
Africa will be joining in on the Festive Season in a bid
to educate the beach goers when Learn To Swim co-ordinators spread the message
of water safety at the Santos Beach in Mossel
Bay from December 17-21.

"Drowning is an unfortunate form of
death and something which can be avoided," said Swimming SA President Jace
Naidoo.

"At Swimming SA, we have set a goal
of spreading the word of water safety across all communities, to strive towards
ensuring that all children can swim by 2014.

"With many people heading to the
coast for the Festive Season, our Learn To Swim co-ordinators will enhance
their campaign in spreading the word of the pleasures of water, when conducting
oneself in a safe and secure environment."

"Every life saved from drowning,
could be that of a future Olympic athlete or Olympic champion and as a sports
federation, we are determined to work towards safety platforms for all from a
water safety perspective," added Naidoo.

The Mossel
Bay leg of the Learn To Swim
initiative is part of Swimming SA’s Ocean Splash campaign, which will see
similar water education programmes happening in Port St Johns, Cape
Town and Durban.
