North West emerged from their day one slumbers to record a comprehensive 6-0 victory over the hapless
Free State team, scoring their first victory of the tournament and taking their team tally to four points on the log, on Day 2 at the SPAR Hockey Inter-Provincial Tournament in

Cape Town
.

Leading by four goals at half-time with Heloise Labuschagne starting affairs after four minutes from a penalty corner, Chene Henderson, Kirsten Kriel and Michelle de Kock each scored from field goals, before Ilse Fourie scored twice within three minutes in the final half to finish the game in good stead for a second-place position on the overnight log.

In the B-Section’s second match of the day,
Witwatersrand emulated their opening encounter opponents to secure their first win against a struggling Boland, who continue their goal-less form on the second day.

Scoring both their goals after failing to pierce the Boland defence in the first half, Bernadette Coston lead matters with a field goal shortly after half-time, and then Wit’s Julia Cass finished matters off by converting a penalty corner shortly before full time.

The B-section action on Day 2 was completed by Peninsula once again in rampant form, securing an eight-nil rollicking over the Eastern Province Settlers to finish overnight leaders on six points and enjoying a clear two-points lead over

North West
and Wits.

Peninsula face the re-invigorated North-West in their Wednesday fixture, Wits will hope to consolidate a good position against
Eastern
Province, and Boland face

Free State
in the bottom-of-the log fixture, with both sides looking to open their leaderboard accounts.
