The South African women’s cricket team have lost their first match on tour in Europe, going down by 97 runs to New Zealand in a Twenty20 encounter at Somerset County cricket ground, a short while ago.
New Zealand, batted first, and posted a competitive 186/7 in 20 overs.
SA vice-captain Johmari Logtenberg took 2/35 in her four overs.
In reply, South Africa panicked with four run-outs, resulting in the team being all out for 89.
Captain Cri-Zelda Brits top scored with 23 while Claire Terblanche chipped in with 22.
South Africa play another Twenty20 game this afternoon against England A before departing for home tomorrow.
